Counselling Service

Counselling in the West Midlands

Hello there and welcome. Considering counselling can be a daunting process. Find out more about how I work as a therapist and how therapy can help you.

Thinking about starting counselling?

Do you feel stuck, lost and helpless to change things? Are you struggling to grasp a hold of who you are? This can lead to feelings of distress and despair which makes it difficult to know how to begin to find yourself?

You may have been through trauma in your life which is preventing you from living fully in the present? Do you want to gain the confidence to take back control of your experiences?

Do you have relationship issues? Are you worried about what will hapen to your relationship? Does this make you feel low and depressed, leaving you with little or no motivation for life.

Counselling can help by providing you with a confidential space to safely explore your feelings and emotions.

One of the most important aspects of counselling is for you to feel comfortable with me. This will help us build a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.

Call to Book a Session

Here is a little about me to help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you:

About me.

Counselling Denise Lynch

My name is Denise. I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I am based in Hall Green, Birmingham.

My experience comes through working with a local charity supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse and in my own private practice.

This has provided me with extensive experience of counselling vulnerable people of all genders and from all backgrounds.

My counselling approach.

I aim to provide a warm and empathic environment where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.

It is important that I am led by you in the session. You have control of the direction and pace of the sessions and it is all about you.

Together we can work towards understanding your feelings and begin to resolve the difficulties you are experiencing.

This will then lead to you being able to make changes that will improve your quality of life.

Getting started

Our initial session offers you the opportunity to talk about what brings you to counselling.

We will explore what you hope to get from our time together. I will be accepting and understanding of your experiences and I will not judge you.

I am keen to understand what it is like for you. To hear you and validate what you are going through.

Being heard and understood in a compassionate and accepting space can help you to feel less distressed. This helps to move towards self acceptance and self compassion.

It is important you feel comfortable with me for therapy to be of use. I am keen that you make the decision about whether you would like to work with me or not.

How long will I be in therapy?

We are all unique and individual. You may find that you are able to get what you need from a few regular sessions. Some people prefer long term counselling allowing them to have a deeper understanding of themselves.

This will depend on what has brought you to counselling, in the first instance, and how long you have been struggling with these issues.

I will listen to what is best for you. This is something we will regularly explore as the therapeutic relationship builds.

Counselling is not easy. It takes a lot of courage to talk about difficult feelings therefore you may feel worse before you feel better.

Regular commitment to sessions will enable us to manage this in the best possible way for you

Warm and comfortable setting.

My private practice is based in Solihull Wellbeing Clinic in Hall Green. It is easily accessible from Birmingham City Centre and Solihull.

The setting is safe and confidential and the rooms are warm and welcoming.
